What is it?

CONNECT is a program organized by ESL teachers from universities around the world. Participants are organized into small groups with a teacher mentor. The aim is to enjoy spending time communicating with people from another country in everyone’s second language!  You can learn about their culture and lifestyle and share your own. This year, participants are from Turkey, Spain, Argentina, Brazil, Indonesia, Japan, Ivory Coast, Taiwan, Poland, Mexico, and Chile.

When:

Session 2 is November 21 to December 16. You must register in advance and participate for the full four weeks.

How:

To participate, you have to:

●      Join Telegram, the main contact tool for the groups.

●      Create an introduction video about yourself to share on the FIRST DAY.

●      Be a co-leader for one week to guide the group on a topic you want to discuss.

●      Interact at least 20 time per week (text messages, video chat, etc.) and join in half of the live sessions.

Communication is asynchronous or synchronous on Telegram, on video chat (eg. Zoom), etc.  Each week your mentor will guide you (via Telegram) with topics and possible activities, and that week’s co-leaders will organize the activities with the group.

The program will continue in the Spring semester for students of all levels!  Come talk to Rebecca or Gamze in the ILC for more information.  You can also reach us by DM on @itu.ilc or by email ilc@itu.edu.tr.  P4 students do not need to come to Maçka to participate!
