About the Program
The main goal of the UPP is to prepare students for their education in their departments in terms of English language proficiency.
After successfully completing minimum one term or maximum 2 terms at the UPP and passing the ITU SFL Proficiency Exam, or one of the exams approved by the ITU Senate (TOEFL iBT or PTE), students have the right to start their departments. Since the medium of instruction is either 30% or 100% English in faculties, the UPP designs its curricula to help students to follow their lessons in their departments easily.
In this respect, not only the curricula, but also the in-house exams, materials, learner autonomy, and technology as well as students’ needs are taken into consideration by the well-qualified Turkish and native instructors. In the 1997-1998 academic year, it became compulsory for the undergraduate students to attend the English Preparatory Program.
