ING 103 Elective Courses (3 credits)

The ING 103 courses include versions developed according to the students’ specific field of study. These are Professional Communication for Engineers (ING 103CO), Intercultural Citizenship in International Education (ING 103ES), Public Speaking (ING 103H), Short Stories (ING 103I), Film Studies (ING 103N), and Science Communication: Theory and Practice for Engineers (ING 103SC).

All ING 103 courses are designed to develop students intellectually. In general, curricula focus on reading comprehension, written and oral expression, organizational writing, and oral communication skills. Students are expected to participate in academic discussions to support their presentation skills. The courses are taught by instructors specialized in their field of study.

These courses (except for ING 103CO, ING 103ES, ING 103SC) are compulsory for students who are subject to the lesson plans before the 2017-2018 academic year and who have passed the ITU YDY English Proficiency Exam with a score of 75 or above. For those who are subject to the 2017-2018 academic year and later lesson plans, all of these courses are in the elective category.
